1. What NoSQL Summer was about
2. Any tools the group wanted set up
3. Whether the venue was appropriate
4. What paper we were going to read for the next meeting
5. What sort of schedule should be kept to

Apart from the blog, automated email updates of new meetings and the updated calendar feeds (you can find both of these at the NoSQL Summer page for Cheltenham) we all agreed that nothing else was needed. Obviously, if there’s anyone out there that disagrees let me know!

The meeting was held at the Exmouth Arms in Cheltenham on the Bath road. The beer garden was pretty packed and it wasn’t too clear where we were, so for the next meeting I’ll make sure there’s some kind of sign on the table. We may move inside for the next meeting; it’s quieter while the weather is good and there’s better Wifi signal. I’d be interested to hear people’s thoughts on that, though (feel free to leave a comment indicating your preference).

It was decided that the paper we should read was PNUTS: Yahoo!’s Hosted Data Serving Platform (the link will take you to the page where you can download said paper). It’s a nice easy one to get started on.

The group decided on bi-weekly meetups. This way, there’s more time to read the paper at your leisure and “digest” it before coming to the meetup. Obviously, feel free to annotate the PDF and send me your copies; I’ll get those up on the NoSQL Summer website. The next meeting will be Thursday, July 8th 2010. I’d set it on the Friday but it would clash with the Cheltenham Social Media Cafe which I’d recommend anyone go to.

Obviously, there are some who wont be able to make it. Therefore I’ve set up this WordPress to chronicle the meetings and what happened, so people can read and join in next time safe in the knowledge they didn’t miss too much.
